On July 31, 2024, the Judicial Council of the Seventh Circuit approved amendments to the Local Rules of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois. A complete set of the amended local rules is available here and on the court's web site.
The amendments consist of a complete revision of the local rules, the first since the rules were adopted decades ago. This mammoth, multi-year project was undertaken as a result of the recently completed restyling of the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.
Many of the rules have been restyled without any substantive changes. Other rules have outlived their usefulness or are inconsistent with current practice or clerk’s office operations. Although most of the rules have only been restyled, others have substantive changes; others have been deleted altogether.
