IMPORTANT: Court Proceedings during COVID-19 Public Emergency (Second Amended Order)

Monday, May 18, 2020

This Second Amended General Order makes important changes to the procedures of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The Second Amended General Order alters the earlier Amended General Order in three ways:

1.  Paragraphs 3 and 6 have been revised.  Starting June 1, 2020, all motions must be noticed for presentment using the Notice of Motion form attached.  The form gives explicit notice (1) that the hearing will be telephonic rather than in person; and (2) that a notice of objection must be filed or the motion may be granted in advance.  If a motion has already been filed and noticed for presentment on or after June 1, an amended notice of motion must be filed and served using the required form.

2.  Paragraph 7 has been updated to make clear that starting June 1, 2020, all trials and evidentiary hearings will be conducted by video using the Zoom for Government platform.

3.  Paragraph 5 has been corrected to remove the possible misimpression that Judge Lynch hears motions in Chicago rather than Rockford.

Please see Second Amended General Order No. 20-03, effective May 18, 2020, for details.
