Application for In Forma Pauperis

This application applies to chapter 7 individual debtors only.

The bankruptcy court may waive the filing fee in an individual debtor's chapter 7 case if the court determines that such individual:

• Has income of less than 150% of the income official poverty line (applicable to a similarly-size family), and

• Is unable to pay the fee in installments

Official Form 3B

Those seeking a waiver of the fee must complete and file Official Form 3B (and check the appropriate box on the petition).

Step-by-Step Procedures:

1. Select [Bankruptcy>Motions/Applications]

2. Enter case number and click Next

3. Select In Forma Pauperis from pick list and click Next

4. Select Debtor(s) from party pick list

5. Click Next

The PDF Document selection screen will display.

6. Click Browse button and navigate to locate the appropriate document/file

7. Highlight filename
   Right click on filename
   Select Open
   Review document
   Close windowView file to verify the correct file is being selected

8. Click Open button and filename will appear in the browse window

Note:  A proposed order is not required for this application.  

9. Click Next

The next screen contains the following ALERT message;

ALERT: This item shall not be scheduled for hearing before a Bankruptcy Judge.

10. Click Next

The Modify Text screen will display.  

11. Click Next

The Final Text screen will display.  This is your final opportunity to modify the entry before submitting the filing.

12. Verify the accuracy of the docket text

13. Click Next to complete filing process

The Notice of Electronic Filing will display.  It is the verification that the filing has been sent electronically to the court.

Copies of this notice and the document filed are emailed to all participants who receive electronic notification in the case.  You have a period of 15 days for a one time free look at the document filed.
